Charleswood Photographer
Nature-forward family, pet and engagement photography in Charleswood — Assiniboine Forest, Eve Werier Park and the Harte Trail.
Photography in Charleswood
Charleswood gives you a genuine forest setting without leaving the city. Aspen groves, trails and a quiet pond make it perfect for anyone who wants an outdoorsy, unposed feel — and it is one of the best areas in Winnipeg for photographing dogs off the pavement.
Favourite Charleswood photo spots
- Assiniboine Forest. Aspen stands, the Sagimay Trail and the pond at the heart of the forest — a true woodland backdrop.
- Eve Werier Park. Meadow edges and dappled light, with parking right beside the forest.
- The Harte & Passenger Trails. Long, straight rail-trail lines that are great for leading-line compositions.
- Roblin Boulevard’s rural edges. Fence lines, big skies and prairie grass on the western fringe of the city.
Sessions that suit Charleswood
Charleswood suits pet and dog photography, adventurous family sessions and engagements for couples who love the outdoors.
Planning your session
The forest holds soft, even light for most of the day, so it is forgiving if you have a narrow window. Bring bug spray in June and July, and boots in spring.

Charleswood photography — questions
Is Assiniboine Forest good for dog photography?
It is one of the best spots in Winnipeg for it — plenty of natural backdrops, room to roam and quiet trails away from traffic.
Where do we park for an Assiniboine Forest session?
The Chalfont Road and Grant Avenue entrances both have small car parks a short walk from the main trails.
Are the trails stroller-friendly?
The main Sagimay Trail is packed gravel and manageable with a sturdy stroller; the narrower side paths are not.
