What You Get After Your Session: Galleries, Prints and the Print Release

What You Get After Your Session: Galleries, Prints and the Print Release — Family photograph by Teri Moore, TAG Photography

When people ask what is included, they usually mean three things: how many photos, in what form, and what they are allowed to do with them. Here is how it works with me.

A private online gallery

A week or two after the session — I give you a firm date at the time — you get an email with a link to a private, password-protected online gallery of the finished images. It is yours to share with family. From there you can download the full-resolution files and, if you like, order prints directly.

How the images are edited

Every image in your gallery is individually edited for colour, light, contrast and small clean-ups. My style is natural: I am not smoothing skin into plastic or swapping skies. The aim is that the photos look like the day did, at its best. If there is a specific edit you need, such as a distracting sign removed or a closed eye swapped from another frame, just ask.

How many photos

It varies with the session — the length, how many people, how much ground we cover — but a family session typically lands somewhere between 40 and 70 finished images, and an engagement session a little more. You are not charged per image; the gallery is the gallery.

The print release

You receive a personal print release with your gallery. In plain terms: the photos are yours to print, share on social media, send to relatives, put on a holiday card and hang on your wall, as many times as you like, for good. What it does not cover is commercial use — selling the images, or a business using them in advertising — and entering them in contests as your own work. I keep the copyright and the right to show a few images in my portfolio. If you would rather I did not post yours anywhere, that is completely fine; just tell me.

Prints and products

You can order prints, canvases and albums straight from the gallery, made by a proper photographic lab rather than a drugstore machine — the difference in colour and how long they last is real. Or take the files and print them yourself. Either way, please do actually print some. Photos on a wall get seen every day; photos on a hard drive do not.

Any questions about what is included before you book? Get in touch — I would rather over-explain than have you unsure. Session details are on the family photography page.
